I'm going to look at puppies tomorrow
I tell myself I'm just looking... just looking... just looking... but in my mind, I'm picking out names.

8. I hope you are going to a shelter.
There are so many doggies that need homes and if they are not adopted they will be euthanized. Please adopt from a shelter and not from a pet store or a breeder.

12. Sometimes they have breeds
sometimes not (of course, you can get your puppy whereever you want) ;)

Why an English Bulldog? NOt that they are not adorable...

but how about a schipperke?

17. aw
I met a schipperke once... really sweet dog.

I live in a small town in a small county. The local shelter usually has about 6 dogs, most of them pit-bull mixes.

There are two breeds I've ALWAYS wanted -English Bulldog and Clumber Spaniel. both have the right temperament, energy level and other attributes that I really want in a dog.

I've gotten 5 cats and a dog from shelters. I love shelters. But if you want a specific (and rare) breed, they're just impossible to find.

My choice now is between an English Bulldog and no dog at all. That's why I'm "going to look".

19. I know
Sometimes there are rescue socities for certain breeds, for people who get a dog and then want a new one, etc.

Schipperkes are great, though. I recommend the breed highly.
I either get my cats from a shelter, or off the street.

I did get my dog from a pet store (I know), because he kept getting marked down and older and no one wanted him.

so I got him.

21. Yeah
I looked up some rescue agencies and there are precious few bulldogs available that way, and none in my area. Also, the rescues tend to be older dogs, and I want a pup for a variety of reasons, the biggest being that I can acclimate him to my cats.

10. nope
it's a private breeder.

I'm well aware of the value of shelters, and I've adopted ALL my pets from them in the past. But if you want a particular breed, you can't rely on a shelter. I've NEVER seen an English Bulldog in a pound.

there is value to pure breeds.

3. Well, no one "just looks" at puppies.
:-) Just think of the fun you will have with your new friend! When you walk in and the perfect puppy looks at you and sits in your lap, you'll be hooked! :-)

14. If I ever have a home with a fenced yard
and if I ever, when dogless, don't get immediately adopted by a needy puppy mutt, I would pick the puppy in your picture.

Sigh, currently I live in a house without a fenced yard so I'm not in any danger of acting on my falling head over heels in love with your picture.

23. Awwwwwwwww.....What a sweetie!
My family always owned Beagles and Labrador Retrievers. Marge reminds me of one of my favorite childhood dogs! She was so sweet and affectionate and used to howl whenever we would sing or the tea kettle would whistle! I still miss her!

Edited for photos, in case you missed my little guys:

Meneken, a Brussels Griffon:

Sara, a terrier:

Catlin, my rescued kitty:
