So, I'm a very bad DUer.
Yep, I admit it: I have not been a very good DUer lately. I haven't posted in days, and I certainly haven't commented on anybody's posts, despite the exciting turns of events lately.

The most shameful of all, however, is that my recent good fortune has actually made me feel a little less interested in the blow-by-blow reports that sustained me during my 6+ months of unemployment. I find myself more interested in budgeting my now-dwindling free time into more meaningful activities, such as goading eighteen-year-olds into registering to vote.

For some reason, I feel like I'm being unfaithful to DU--as if Moonbeam_Starlight might track me down and sew a scarlet L on my brand-new jacket.

Oh, yeah, there's another thing to feel guilty about: I'm now a consumer again. That means I'm improving Shrub's economy. Ick.

(By the way, M_S, I'm in your old gig now! (LA and reading, plus Web design!) It's a lot more fun than copywriting, but I find myself being nearly brought to tears daily. We are becoming Brazil, I think.)

2. Hey, attention from Caesar!
First, Will, Mrs. IconCat and I greatly enjoyed your convention coverage. I am always amazed at your ability to step out of your personal accounts to give objective assessments of the world's oddest ritual. Thanks for doing so much hard work!

The aforementioned recent good fortune is that I am no longer unemployed--not only that, but I am now in the company (pun intended) of some seriously hardcore liberals, including the person at the top. I am putting in about fifteen hours a day, and I couldn't possibly love a job more than I love this one. Heaven, I'm in heaven, and my heart beats so, that I can hardly speak...

4. Thanks!
Since I doubt that The Man is really paying attention to this thread, I will come out and say it: I have forsaken corporate communications to work as a language arts teacher in a public school that serves students and families whose dire poverty has been exacerbated by the Hypocrite in Chief. I must say, by the way, that if Bush thinks that the poor are too busy struggling for survival to realize what is happening to them as a result of his horrid reign, he will find himself with a very nasty surprise in a couple of months. These folks are pissed off.
