Sleeping pods are catching on with exhausted executives
Making sleep a profitable business

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3637768.stm

It may not be a novel idea to tell people to sleep well, but providing them with slumber pods so they can catch up on their shut-eye is a first.

Arshad Chowdhry, a Bangladeshi American entrepreneur, is providing just such a service in New York. He has started a sleep centre for corporate employees and anyone who wants to catch a quick "power nap".

Mr Chowdhry says: "Metronaps is the first place in the US where people can come and take a midday power nap. It keeps busy executives alert and functioning at their best during the day. We know that our customers have a limited amount of time, so we make it as easy as possible for them to do during the day." he explained.

The cost? Fourteen dollars for 20 minutes in one of the state-of-the-art sleeping pods.

1. Gotta keep those CEO's sharp as a tack so they can screw us
lackeys out of the last drop, while their earnings rocket even higher.

2. Executives only? No smart executive would waste the money...
Hang a "do not disturb" sign on the front door to the big exec's office and take a nap.

What next, will somebody charge for water and air? x( I didn't know life had such a price on it. x( x( x(

7. From what I can see
it's not "executives only", just aimed at execs.

3. Not to worry, it is paid for by the stock holders.
Going to be fun to get back to the 1% ruling the country like in England's Victorian days.We already have the artful Dodger type.

4. poor widdle executives need their nappy--bye
$14 for 20 minutes? Is there anyone who can actually go to sleep at will? And do it in twenty minutes? Especially during the day, sleeping just makes you groggy. This sounds like a rip-off to me. Of course if you're going to screw somebody out of their cash, I can't think of a better target.

6. Japan
This article dusted off a very, very old memory of reading an article about proposed or existing sleeping facilities in Japanese airports for flyers who didn't have enough time to get home or to a hotel between flights. I vaguely remember thinking it sounded like sleeping in a coffin.
