Help Killing Wasp Inside/Allergic
There is a wasp in my bedroom. Right now it is hanging out on the windowsill above my bed. I have sliding glass doors to my porch, but because of bushes in my backyard, the window is brighter. I guess the thing wants out, the feeling is mutual.

I have ant and roach killer spray & the stuff for wasp nests you aren't supposed to use inside. I'm trying to figure out how to kill this wasp or at least get it outside. I've had reactions before, so I'm frightened of the thing. My husband is out all day. I guess I could take a shoe and try to hit it, but I'm worried it would fly at me as soon as I got close (my bed is right under the window, so I wouldn't be in a position where I could easily bolt)

I'd like to take a shower, etc but I'm afraid of the wasp. Please don't tell me that if I ignore the thing it will ignore me. Both times I've been stung by bees I was minding my own business and didn't even know they were there. The second time I required medical attention.

Does anyone know if it's really bad to use that nest stuff inside (they say not to) or if the ant stuff will work on wasps?

1. Get the bee/wasp killer from home depot...
You can shoot that stuff from a distance and they die instantly.

2. You can give it a spritz of the spray, but if you're going to get that
close to it, you might as well take a flyswatter and whack it.

3. Do you have a flyswatter?
it's much easier to aim a good smack with a flyswatter than a shoe or magazine. I wouldn't use the sprays inside.

Also, at least the wasps around here don't tend to 'fly at you' when you get close.

6. No Fly Swatter, but Maybe I Can Find Something
and just have my cell phone in my pocket to call 911 - I'm that paranoid.

I can't go to Home Depot because I'm still in my nightclothes and to get my regular clothes I'd have to go into the bedroom. right now, the door is closed.

I would think they would try to defend themselves if they thought I was attacking.

4. Better not to use those poisons indoors...
Edited on Sun Sep-12-04 08:49 AM by Bruce McAuley
Easiest is to get a piece of paper, and trap it between the paper and the window. One little push with your finger, and you can feel them crunch, and that's it, they're a goner and you're safe.
As an aside, if you find the nest, don't bother to use that nasty pesticide junk, just put a small amount of diesel fuel or kerosene on their nest, they'll move out PRONTO, and it's a LOT cheaper and safer.
Good luck!
:hi:

5. Use the wasp spray, just don't stand there and huff the stuff.

If you're really that concerned, clean up the residue after the bugger is dead.

You breathe pesticides every day. It's not something to actively pursue, but a spritz of wasp killer won't hurt you.

7. Open the window
Get a long handled broom, and sort of usher it out. This method has always worked for me.... haven't gotten stung yet. The trick is to be very mellow and gentle and coax it out.

Of course, I'm not allergic so I can understand if you might want to go for more aggressive measures.

10. Based on personal experience.
It works, and you stay far enough away from the beastie not to get stung.

12. Yep- My wife and I use that all the time
After you suck him in, you might want to take the vacuum outside and leave it till your husband can change the bag. It does work great...

13. Bug Spray
I shoot a little bit of bug spray into the vacuum cleaner, then cover the hose with a plastic bag. The plastic bag is to keep the wasp from climbing out all groggy and pissed off. I use a rubber band to secure the plastic bag in place.

20. Try not to make eye contact with that thing!
That may not just be your average normal garden variety wasp!
