9. Here's a youth vote story

I was going to Langara College during the last municipal elections in BC. The day before the election I tried to get a last minute comment from the NPA.... the guy said they weren't talking to student media today...this pissed me off because the Jen Clark Cow also was a no-show at the debate Langara held. So I sent them an email basically saying, you people have ignored the youth vote this entire election and now it will cost you. I also mention we were the future of journalism in the city and this guy wasn't making a good impression (Very unprofessional of me I know)
I got a snarky email back saying "Well, it's understood on the last day of an election don't you think, and on a personal note, don't count your chickens."
Well, the next day the NPA was wiped out by the Liberal COPE party...why? Because a huge voter turnout spurred by a massively irregular high amount of young voters came out.
Cope lost all but ONE seat at council. (Maybe two, I can't remember) and COPE took almost every seat on the school board too....
I should have emailed him referencing my first email.

young people are much less likely to have steady phone numbers or addresses so they're much harder for pollsters to contact.

i truly believe that the youth vote will hit over 50% this year.
