The continuing car saga

I posted back on Friday about the trials and tribulations I was having with my car. We took out the old battery on Friday evening, had it tested, it was dead dead, so I bought a new one and put it in. Car ran fine Friday night. Seemed ok Saturday morning. I went to bed Friday thinking all was right with the world...that I had gotten through the worst of it for only about $60. Apparently I was wrong.

I went outside this morning and my car was dead...again. Dead as a doornail today. Sigh. Dad says it sounds like the alternator. *sigh* So I gotta try to get it jump started and down to the shop after work today. Whee fun. More hemoraghing cash.

I need a hug.

1. I had a problem with the battery

not holding a charge in the last two weeks. Turned out to be a bad chassis to engine ground. Check all of the ground connections first.

Fortunately today both my best friend and her hubby are off of work. So they should be able to come over and help after I get off. I'm hoping it'll jump start fairly easy and I can just take it up to that same Pep Boys we were at on Friday.

5. Was the battery tested

and found to be dead? Don't assume the worst yet - it could just be bad battery cables...

7. Yup...it was dead dead when they tested it

No juice at all. Didn't even have enough to operate the power locks on the car. :(

6. this just happened to my father in law

know what it was?

the hood light was stuck on. wouldn't go off when you closed the hood. he went through 3 batteries before they discovered it. the light was draining the juice.

I've definitely got to get it in the shop. Something is draining the power in a sincere way...enough to completely drain a brand new battery in 2.5 days. It was really really dead this morning. I mean when I tried to crank it I got nothing.
