Levator Scapulae muscle that is prone to crick-in-the-neck syndrome. A stiff neck can be brought on by a number of things, from polio to just a bad pillow or posture.

To alleviate the pain and work the muscle, do the following;
1. Sit on a chair, feet flat on the ground pointing outward and stay loose from hip to shoulders.
2. Lift shoulders toward ears and turn head to right shoulder. Place left hand behind head. Remain in that position, but drop the shoulders, visualizing shoulder blades moving toward hips.
3. Feel the stretch on the left side of the neck. Release and repeat other side.
