93 Year Old Woman Celebrates Birthday By Jumping 14,000 Feet

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Polly Gifford of Newport News jumped out of an airplane at 14,000 feet over the weekend -- to celebrate her birthday. She turned 93 Sunday.

It was her first jump, and probably her last.

Gifford said she was inspired when former President George H.W. Bush jumped in June at age 80.

She said that she shook as she fell during her skydive on Saturday -- not from fear, but quote .. "just from the fun of it." A friend set up the jump with West Point Skydiving Adventures and gave it to Gifford as a birthday present.

I hope I'm that cool when I'm 93! (not the being inspired by past repub presidents part, but ya know) I'm not sure I've got balls enough now to go sky diving. Then again, I've got more to lose, theoretically...
