Okay Rule#253-NO writing CHECKS for lunch!!!
Two count 'em TWO officefraus wrote checks in front of me at a street vendor. One was for $4.50 and one was for $3.25!!! :grr:

For crying out loud lady it is the middle of the day in downtown Richmond there are cops everywhere and not too may criminal looking types unless they have taken to wearing suits ortennis shoes with their dresses.

The vendor is a great healthy type food wagon with Bohemian types running it. I got the Lemon Dill Tuna Salad with sesame pasta, bread, and a cheese wedge and a water---$5.25 and I paid cash!! :eyes:

I wouldn't take checks in this day and age if I were running a business-"No I don't take promises" (wouldn't IT be successful!!!)

2. Who the hell writes checks in public anymore?
I haven't written a check for anything other than a monthly payment in forever.

A check for $3.25? Go to the damned ATM and get cash. Goodness.

8. I write about 20 checks a year
12 are for my rent and another 8 for misc stuff like doctor visits that don't accept my check card. Even then, one of my doctors just started to accept those so I expect the number to go down even further.

When I opened up my new bank account they gave me 50 free checks. I figure that'll last me about 3 years the rate I write checks.

7. People that write checks
in ANY line piss me off anymore. I stood in line while a lady wrote a check for a pack of cigarettes and a coke. After she wrote it, the guy behind the counter had to ask for ID and she whips out her license and by jove, there's a damned ATM card. He said to her "You could have used that to pay" and she responded that she was horrible at keeping track when she used her ATM, so by writing a check, she had to note the amount in her register. Finally I asked her (I was getting antsy since I really had to pee!) why she just didn't do that when she used her ATM? Deer in headlights look and you could hear the gears clicking, oh yeah, great idea! Duh!!!!!

9. Bounce bounce bounce
That is why I said that I wouldn't accept checks. If she had a debit card and wrote a check anyway..........alarms would go off in my head.

10. People that wait until the last possible moment...
to take out their check and start writing it. Jeepers sakes, if you're buying groceries, and you INSIST on writing a check, start filling the fool thing out while you're in line or at least before that absolute last item is beeped through. Then, you can just fill in the amount.
