1. It's funny, I bet Jack in the Box will win...
because Jack in the Box had that e-coli scare a few years back. The ironic thing is that JITB now has some of the most stringent health-code rules in regards to food handling as a result of that situation--and yet people still think of them as dirty.

I don't eat fast food, so I have no dog in this fight. It's all toxic crap as far as I'm concerned.

10. Jack-in-theBox has had several hepatitis outbreaks
at least they did in the mid-Atlantic so they closed most of them down.

2. I knew you were a west coaster
We don't have Der Weinerschnitzel or Jack-in-the-Box in the East. But I voted for Jack based on my recollection from 15 years ago, heh.

22. I think Jack-in-the-Box is the Only Fast Food That Actually Killed Someone
and they always were the bottom of the barrel. If they have improved, I wouldn't know,
since I gave up on them.

20. during HS, I worked at BK
It was my vision of Hell.
Dirt everywhere.
Dirty old men harassing me (a poor 16 year old girl trembling at her first job!).
HS drop outs begging me every day never to become what they've become.
IUGH.

6. Arby's
It was a tough choice, because every fast food chain listed is so nasty in its own special way, but Arby's is the (close) winner just for overall 100% nastiness (menu is gross and restaurants are usually dirty).

If you want to break the 'ol fast-food habit, read "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser. You'll never eat a fast-food burger again (or if you do, you'll certainly realize the cost, human and otherwise, that goes into making fast food what it is - bad for you!).

7. I can count on one hand the number of times I've entered a Burger King
And each time, the place was filthy. I don't eat there unless there's no alternative.

16. I got soooooooo sick.....
a few years ago, from KFC, I swore I'd never eat it again, and so far I haven't. It took me about a week to recover, probably would have killed a child or a senior.

17. I put Taco Hell.
I used to like them back in the day, but the last few years, whenever I'd order the spanish rice, they'd give me rice that wwas REALLY dried out. Yuk.

Then, at a recent outing, I ordered two milks for the kids, and my son was about to drink, but he said it smelled bad. It was totally curdled and was almost 2 weeks past the expiration! Both cartons! I went back and got my money back and said I'd never eat there again. Their attitude was like "Uh, okay." No fucking conscience whatsoever.

I actually like Popeye's, BTW. Better than KFC...

21. You should have called the health department....
I'll bet that would have changed the attitude ! But, then again, maybe not. Also, I should have complained to our health dept. when I got sick from KFC, but I didn't.

25. I only go to B-K when someone I'm with insists.
They are always dirty and smelly and the crew behind the counter usually looks like they beleong on the CDC most wanted list.

OTOH.... Hardee's and Wendy's are usually OK. And Subway, if you want to include them as a fast food joint.

28. I'll be the only vote for Wendy's
For more than a decade, they are the only chain that persistently glues hideous cheese to my burgers, NO MATTER WHAT I SAY TO PREVENT IT.

"My top priority is no cheese..."

"I don't care if it's raw or burnt, just make sure there is no cheese..."

"Two singles, no cheese. Let me repeat, NO CHEESE. I do not want cheese. I will gladly pay extra as long as you make sure there is no cheese."

Then inevitably I'll pull out of the drive-thru to the smell of grotesque cheese, and initiate a one-man boycott. Once it lasted 5 full years. Last year I finally wrote multiple complaint letters to the corporate headquarters in Dublin, Ohio. They sent me several free combo tickets and I was contacted by the regional manager and the manager of the local Wendy's that is the prime offender. "I keep telling them not every burger has cheese," she said incredulously of her help, "but some of them just don't get it."

36. Jack in the Box, by a knotted stomach
I think it's neck and neck between JitB and McDonald's for rank nastiest but as bad as Mickey D's is I have never gotten physically ill from it, and their greasy breakfast stuff is actually good.

When I was eight years old, my older sister took me along when she went to visit college friends in California. We stopped at a JitB drive thru one night and I don't think I've ever been that sick in my life, before or since.

Thankfully I'm a New Yorker so that was my first and probably last experience with JitB. It was around 15 years ago, so I don't know if they've gotten better since then.
