It's so funny how they start out on a mission to post a lot of innocuous, puerile comments that have no substance in order to get their post count up... and then, like pubescent teenage boys, they can't help themselves from splurting out their freepish hatred before their first day is up. but it seems that even as a non-troll a disagreement turns ugly. i don't want that...i want exchange of ideas-but sometimes people feel threatened when they see ideas that don't match theirs. i got caught up in an argument a couple weeks ago here over automatic v stick, and a couple members jumped all over me for preferring a stick, calling me names and stuff, so i am just staying away (sort of) from threads and boards where an opposing view might be misread as a threat.

that was silly to jump all over you like that. Sometimes it is hard to separate legitimate criticism from actual trolling. It reminds me of the situation where ANY criticism of Israel is called anti-semitic when the Middle East is discussed. nor would i...i try real hard not to shove my opinion up someone's ass, and i don't mind people disagreeing with my opinion. i wasn't being trolled. these were long time members who couldn't stand MY PERSONAL CHOICE, WHICH HAD NO AFFECT ON THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE WHATSOEVER. it seemed-immature, imho. but i duked it out for a while, so i guess that makes me-er-uh-immature, too. heh heh hehhehhehheh!:D

but really, my expression of a preference that was different than theirs seemed to me to be threatening to them.

i think it's healthy to have an exchange of different ideas-but when there is someone who shows up riling people with a Socrates impression, or if people start taking shit too seriously-well it's a fine line sometimes, and most the time if i piss someone off on a thread, or think my contribution would be way too opposite than the prevailing 'O', i'll try not to post-i did walk into something last week and found support and the opposite of that. so it's just getting used to stuff, and significantly, being gotten used to.

sure way to deal with them, although it takes a lot of effort to dog them down, sometimes.

I have sent as many as 7 alerts on a single troll before seeing results. I do NOT blame the mods, though -- I'm certain thay have their hands full these days!!!!
