How far could you take deception?

I was watching the A&E channel.

THey talked about this couple Mark and Lori Hacking. He had dropped out of college, and for 2 years pretended to everyone that he was still going, and bought the books and everything. THen he pretended he was applying to medical school, and made trips and supposed interviews. Then he pretended that he was accepted to medical school, and he and his wife went out to find an apartment in the new city.

Finally somehow the wife found out what was going on, and he killed her.

But for 2 years, day in and day out, he had everyone fooled.

Could you keep this up, and for how long?

1. Not a minute. I am a very poor liar. It makes me very uncomfortable.

2. Not like that

There have been times that I lied about doing things and going places, mainly to provide legitamate excuses for not doing something else. Even though I am a bad liar, the events that I allegedly went to were either events that I went to in the past or were events that I really wanted to go to so it was not difficult to have about 10 minutes of story about it. I really don't really like to lie so I wouldn't lie about something like that which I would have to keep lying about.
