1. Flash is AWESOME been using it for 4 years now...
Flash is a program made by macromedia inc.

It has also defined itself as a type of compression, game, and movie file.

The latest software probably runs about 100 bux or so.

Depending on how much you want to learn is how hard it is to learn. You can learn anything from drawing, to basic animation, to complex animation, to script writing, to game making, to website creation.

There are several tutorials built into the software. Those are free. There are online tutorials. And also pay to learn tutorials. Not sure if they made flash for dummies yet.

You can download flash mx for free on P2P servers. But anything after MX requires online registration. Hope I helped. Good luck.

2. Flash rocks
It's both the name of the program and the animation. Once you learn to create objects and use the timeline, it's a piece of cake.

You can download a 30-day full version trial from macromedia. The latest version is Flash MX, but you might be able to find the previous version (5.0?) through software clearance houses for cheap. MX has a bunch of stuff that you probably don't need, if you just want to do animation, so if you can get an old version cheap, I'd recommend that.

Plenty of tutorials on the web, official Macromedia and otherwise. The program comes with tutorials as well.

3. name of program
Flash MX 2004 is the latest version which has 2 flavors, regular and Professional. You probably only need regular. It will set you back $400-$500. Educational version is less.

www.macromedia.com has plenty of resources for learning and good links to other sites offering tutorials from their DevNet center.

You can get a cheap online class through www.hwg.org, the HTML Writer's Guild, which offers a 6 week online class for around $120 if you're a member.

5. Links here re Macromedia Flash MX
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/?promoid=home_prod_flash_082403

You will want a good vector drawing program too, like Macromedia Freehand.

You can find good books about it at your bookstore.

The learning curve is steep, IMHO. I call it "the screaming program" cuz I end up swearing a lot when using it. But that's probably just me.

6. Swish Max
for a relatively easy to learn Flash animation program. $99.95 from their web site: http://www.swishzone.com/
I have used it alot and here is an example of something I made with it: http://www.landdaddy.com/music/ccm.htm (not recommended for dialup)
Should you wish to "evaluate" the program I could make it available to you! PM me if so.

7. Flash is the software - its not difficult to learn and is relatively
inexpensive. It is a vector animation program. I would use tutorials and pick up the Flash Bible
