Oprah's anniversary audience surprise (if Bush ran the show)
Everyone has probably heard by now that Oprah found a bunch of people who really, really needed new cars and put them all in her audience yesterday and gave each one the keys to a new Pontiac.

If Bush had run the show, he would have put snuck a billionaire into the audience, gave him a new, top of the line Mercedes Benz, and everyone else would have gotten a pair of used Nike's from a garage sale.

2. The thing that bugs me most about this whole gimmick is
it wasn't Oprah's money that bought them the cars. In spite of her being a billionaire. GM donated the cars. Why's the whole world saying Oprah gave them away?

:grr:

3. She's the one that made it happen.
Do you think Pontiac would have found 300 people to give cars to? Of course it's a gimmick, but that doesn't make it any less worthy of praise.

I have an odd feeling that if you were one of the 300 people who had been driving a complete pile of shit and were just given a new car out of the clear blue, you might see things differently.

5. Moreover...
Bush would have killed them to get the sneakers... (But only if they resisted.)

6. Bush would give everyone a car, then send the payment book to their KIDS.
Further, I didn't find it at all heartwarming to see a lot of overdressed, over-botoxed North Shore wealthy women get their free cars. Last week the audience screamed just as loud when they all got free cans of "BUTT PASTE"! (Some old skin lotion formula...)
I am NOT making this up.
