CIA Nominee Promises to Shed Partisanship

By KATHERINE PFLEGER SHRADER, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites)'s nominee to head the CIA (news - web sites) promised Tuesday to shed his political past and provide precise, objective and independent intelligence to the president and Congress. But he also cautioned it may take longer than the past CIA director's estimate to hire and train all the operatives needed worldwide to combat terrorism and other threats.

"I have made a commitment to nonpartisanship," retiring Rep. Porter Goss (news, bio, voting record), R-Fla., told the Senate Intelligence Committee at his confirmation hearing. He conceded that during his 16 years in Congress he may "at times" have engaged in debate with too much vigor.

Is it just me, or is Porter Goss like the 10 million repuke to be nominated to a position who went to the press and PROMISED to shed partisanship. And if he's anything like the 9,999,999 folks that came before him he's pretty much full of shit!!

I'd respect him more if he just came out and said he's part of the Bush Agenda and he has no intention of caving into democratic wishes

1. Didn't John Ashcroft promise to uphold the law as written,
and not impose his super-ultra-religiousness?

Yeah, that went over well. Isn't lying to Congress illegal?

2. That's alright
Kerry's first action as President will be to fire him and replace him with one of his own people.

6. I don;t evne want that murderous MONSTER Goss in charge for one second

5. A repuke promising not
to be partisan has about as much credibility as Hugh Hefner promising to be celibate.
