Should I quit my job?
Long story short, the assholes I work for make life a stressful and very unhappy thing (I'm an admin for two bitchy women...I HATE working for women!). I'm currently getting my resume ready to put out, but really don't want to have to still work here while I interview. I can easily get a part time job or two or three while I look, and be able to keep my sanity...I just won't have any health benefits in the meantime. Should I leave and save my sanity, or bite the bullet and stay until I find something else?

1. I'm sure you've considered that sage advice about
(everybody together now) "having a job while you're looking for a job."

Course, being an insane employee may tend to affect future references.

2. Try to find something else first if you can
It's ugly out there. I've been unemployed since mid-February. At the very least, since your an admin, get your resume to some agencies first and tell them the situation. They can probably tell you how quickly they can find you something in your salary range.

3. Quit if you are sure you can hold out until you get another job...
How long do you think it will take to get another job?? You would not want to be without health insurance for very long.

4. If you have some cash saved up
and you really need to get out of there, then do what you have to do. If you are simply relying on the prayer that you'll 'get part-time work' or 'get a job soon', then do everything you can to stick it out. Remember Murphy ... he's out there, waiting for you ...

5. I've been out of work for 18 months
and haven't been able to find jack (I'm an admin, too). I'd say it depends heavily on what the job market is like where you are (it sucks here in Michigan, very badly sucks), and how long you're prepared to stick it out if you can't find something. I know it's hard working for ignorant twits, but when it comes down to it, you have to "put food on your family." Good luck, whatever you decide!

6. How do you feel about your ability to interview now?
When I am too stressed and burnt out from a job, I can't even function well enough to interview. In that case, it's either: (1) Take days off to rest up, then interview when ready OR (2) quit entirely if things are too far gone.

As far as trying to get a job while still employed... It is sometimes very exhausting to do if you feel bad already. It might be easier to get the part-time job, just to recover from the stress.

If the job is really hell, the main thing you need to do is get out. But it will help to have some kind of cushion (e.g., the part-time job). Also, can you get COBRA for health insurance?

8. I'm having a hard time functioning doing anything....
so I know what you mean. But, I live at home with the folks, luckily, but have a lot of bills. Also, the pt jobs are revving up with the holidays approaching, at least from a retail standpoint (which I do have experience in). Have a lot of thinking to do tonight...

Thanks :)
