Poll question: Worst basic cable reality show
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 02:18 AM by undisclosedlocation
When I blast reality shows, a lot of people assume that I'm talking about the big ratings bonanzas on the broadcast networks. Though I have no noticeable admiration for these, I don't watch the networks at all except for Letterman and the occasional sporting event. The real bilge is on cable, especially basic cable, especially the endless imitations of whatever gets any kind of ratings at all. So you have 20 channels with makeover shows, 30 with forensic science or police investigation shows (my personal weakness), 10 with celebrity poker, and plastic surgery shows multiplying so fast they can't be counted. And don't get me started on A&E! I tell ya... Ok, I'll shut up; vote in the poll. Some choices are specific shows (mainly to blast A&E); some are categories since the original show whatever it was is so widely imitated. Try to cope as best you can.

PS: I haven't watched the A&E shows either, but the promos are so painfully tiresome that, considering that this is supposed to be the best stuff from the shows, they must be pretty godawful.

4. Ok, I'll fix it. Either Bravo was showing clips, or I was confused about
what channel was on

15. Well, I understand that it was meant to be a spoof of The Apprentice
so kudos to them for making the effort. On the other hand, to make a believable spoof, you have to play it straight. The bits that I saw, they did this pretty well, but the result was totally unfunny. Hope the rest of it was better.

3. Airline is the best!
As a "customer service rep", I just love seeing people get pissed off. I think I may have a bit of Randal Graves in me. ("Clerks" reference, for those who don't know)

6. Other
To quote Cartman: "They all suck donkey balls."

There's really not much worth seeing on the brainwashing box.

12. I wish I could say I've avoided them all....
But I'm a sucker for home improvement shows. However, the best are on BBCAMERICA, which is not basic cable.

13. ANY HOME IMPROVEMENT SHOW
now that THE LEARNING CHANNEL has completely devolved into cheap DIY TV 24/7 I nominate THE LEARNING CHANNEL and all it's programming as THE WORST.

First runners up for worst -

Any CAR OR MOTORCYCLE assembly show in Discovery Channel.

14. Yeah, it drives me crazy
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 01:42 PM by undisclosedlocation
that TLC basically punted their entire reason for existence, just like it drives me crazy that Discovery Civilization became the Discovery Times channel and switched to all-Hussein-all-the-time for a year and a half. Various folks claim that the motorcycle shows are fun, but ten seconds of bad imitation Joe Satriani guitar has me running for the remote every time.

PS: You forgot to vote. "Any home improvement show" is still shut out
