Camper Van Beethoven Lives...new release
If there's nothing else to be said about President W. Bush's reign, the least that could be mentioned is that he polarized the music world. Love him or hate him, W. has a way of getting musicians up in arms. Such is the case with Camper Van Beethoven, and their latest release, New Roman Times - the first in nearly 15 years.

2. I always liked CVB! I'm glad they're back!
My fave being "ZZTop Goes to Egypt", a weird little instrumental. I saw them with John Cale playing solo one time...a great show...Cale was seriously intense, and then CVB had the place dancing hard...

3. So they got the violin player back!
I always thought Camper was pretty cool. One of those political-writing bands like the Clash and Tonio K. I never get tired of "My Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart".

5. I saw them the last two years at south by southwest!
I'm glad they've become more active.

I have this sudden urge to take skinheads bowling now.:silly:

6. Nice post - I saw them in Jan 2003

and was particularly heartened by their rants on Bush at that show. Lowery was furious and it was great to hear, at that time, someone speaking out. We have progressed!

I've followed the band and its various incarnations since 1985 and have never failed to be entertained at their live performances. I had this page open when I spotted this post:

Its their new live CD, always worth getting.

10. Actually, they had a release two years ago
But not NEW...I have their track-by-track remake of Fleetwood Mac's TUSK. The weirdest thing you've ever heard. I LOVE IT! "Honey Hi" sung on a street corner in Mexico...in Spanish, complete with cars honking and people talking. "Sisters of the Moon" not sung, but read by a Mac.

Never seen them live, unfortunately. Thanks for the heads up. I'll track this one down!

13. GREAT news!
One of my favorite discoveries when I was a college radio jock. "Sweethearts" is still one of the best anti-Reagan pieces ever.
