Homeowners Using Live Animals As Lawn Decorations - Llamas Everywhere!
<snip>

Every morning, four llamas bask in the morning sun on a hill near Shirley Pringle's house. Later, in the heat of the day, they retreat to the shade of a nearby oak. It's just the sort of picturesque scene Ms. Pringle envisioned when she bought the animals for $1,000 apiece to roam the 7.5 acres surrounding her rural Kelseyville, Calif., home a couple of hours from San Francisco.

"It's exactly what I had in mind -- a minifarm," said Ms. Pringle, who also has pheasants and chickens on her fenced property. Ms. Pringle doesn't breed the animals: She just likes to look at them. "My land is definitely unique when you drive down the road and see these four llamas," she says.

People have used animals as prey, pets and food for thousands of years. Bored with conventional landscaping, some homeowners now are using bulls, sheep, chickens and other live animals as outdoor decor.

1. Awesome
I'd love to do that. A few sheep or goats would rock. I'd love a fake farm!

3. My goat, Ruby, is not a mere ornament. She mows the lawn!
...and fertizes!
and disposes of kitchen scraps.

and gives me half gallon of milk every day.

She is awesomely useful.

8. Llamas! I wanna touch a llama!
I find Sheen and his Ultra Lord obsession more humorous, though. :)

4. Llamas are too cool
Our neighbors have several. One is mottled in such a way that his colors resemble a dusty giraffe.

Some other exotics can be interesting. A couple of years back a fence was knocked down during an auto accident near a local middle school. The result was an ostrich 'stampede' onto the school grounds. It was a hoot watching the farmer and 6 local cops trying to round up 8 highly agitated ostriches.

5. Llamas are great!
They are mostly friendly, easy to care for. They poop in one place so they are easy to clean up after.

6. People say they like freedom... how little do they know.
So why do they chain up animals and restrict their freedom? Surely animals like being free too?

I can't talk though. I have a pet.

And corporations have us.

Nobosy is really free when you start to think about it.

Pity more people don't think.
