Ran into a friend from high school
I mentioned that I am married and she seemed surprised. I asked her why. She said that everyone in school used to say I was a lesbian, and she was under the impression it was true.

How on earth would anyone get that idea? I had no clue anyone was even saying this about me. How ... strange.

3. It's because I'm a pro-golfer, isn't it?
Kidding.

I forgot this is DU and I must put in the standard "not that there's anything wrong with that ..." disclaimer.

6. Disclaimer:
I'm not black...

Not that there's anything wrong with being black...

Or not being black...

I'm not short, either...

Not that I think short people are evil...

:)

2. Don't take it personally,
Some people just sort of fall into specific stereotypes. Examples such as this serve no other purpose than to show the world that not everything is as popular opinion would have you believe it is.

4. People have thought that about me, too.
I used to be very athletic (read: played softball), had shortish hair, etc. Maybe I fell into the stereotypes, I guess. It bothered me not one bit.

5. maybe there was a guy who came onto you but you blew him off so he figured
there could only be one reason for that?

Sarcasm off. Except...you call her a "friend" from high school? Beware people who, first, purport to know what "everybody" is saying and second, just has to let you know it...that's a hostile "friend".

10. "You know....SOME people say you're a lesbian."
Same mentality.

9. In my school, if you weren't pregnant at least once before 11th grade...
...they just assumed you were a lesbian.
