Firefox Question. Why does Firefox not recall i am logged in on DU?
yes. i checked the box under my sign on over and over again, in the hopes, like a puppy being housebroken, it will catch on. I have uninstalled an reinstalled-the latest last night to upgrade. i also uninstalled and reinstalled Mozilla 1.7.2. i get to the main page fine, all logged in, on Mozilla and AOHell. The Passwords stored in Firefox look good. WTF else do I need to do here to get Firefox to recognise i am logged in? (PS-it Did work a few times when i first started here. it also remembers if i go away and come back-it forgets if i close Firefox)

1. It might not be Firefox
Do you have some program that's cleaning cookies or rejecting them?

I use Firefox (currently last night's build) and don't have this problem.

2. Check this
Tools --> Options
Click on the Privacy icon on the left hand side
Click on the little arrow icon next to Cookies to expand the options under Cookies if you need too
Make sure 'Allow sites to set cookies' is checked
Make sure the drop down list is set to 'Keep cookies until they expire'

7. does that accept all cookies?
i have it on 'ask me every time' and that works elsewhere...in my exceptions, DU is 'Allowed for session,' i have tried to change that to 'Allowed', but it reverts when i leave. i checked 'stored cookies' and there are 6. 2 are long-term, 4 are set to 'expire at end of session'

6. no problem here, either
but I have not found a reason (beyond those previously discussed in this thread) that would be the big problem...only thing I could think of is a firewall at the office somehow blocking the cookie...

9. well, the quick test
would be to disable zone alarm (for a short while) and see if the problem goes away...if it does...you know the culprit...if not, more digging.

Good Luck!

thanks all...i deleted the 'exception' entry and deleted the 4 temps out of 'stored', signed off, signed back on 'Allowed' a cookie and logged in, then signed off again, signed back on, and it worked...this time anyway :)
