4. Just moved to Salem from Austin, TX
...to attend Willamette Law School. I absolutely love it here! Even with the rain everyone talks about, it's a gorgeous place to live. Considering staying once law school is over. Plus, Texas is a freeper hell-hole, except for Austin, and it's even tough there.

Last trip was Portland - Newport - Redwoods (Ca.) - Caves - Klamath Falls - Crater Lake - Bend. Love that Deschutes Brewery, just drank my last one tonite.

21. I live in Eugene when I'm not in school
I'm originally from NJ, but I moved to Oregon when I was five for the public schools.
I'm not a big fan of Oregon. It's a gorgeous state, but there are too many damn apathetic yuppies who don't to fund the once excellent public schools; they are now overcrowded beyond belief. I got out, thankfully, before things get really bad. My geometry class in HS had 45 kids in it- that is not acceptable.
Thankfully, I'm back on the east coast and have found that I truly belong in Boston, NYC, or NJ. The west coast is just not for me.

23. Beaverton
No beavers to be found anywhere, but the wetland area next to my condo community is home to several nutria, which are essentially giant rat-like creatures that can be mistaken for a beaver. Or guinea pig.

24. Lived in Oregon from 1984 to 2003
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 03:38 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
Loved the weather and scenery, loved Portland's transit system and approach to urban planning, but it just didn't work on a personal level anymore. So I moved back to my home state of Minnesota.

Oh, yes, and Wind Raven X is completely right about the state government there.

25. no argument from me there...
concerning state (and a lot of local) governments...given their track record it's amazing we still have what you call schools and we still drive on paved roads...With the latest debacle involving the lids they were going to cap the Portland city reservoirs with being sold for peanuts on ebay and then them reneging on the deal sums it up in a way...
