Weird!!! I Smell Cigarette Smoke
and nobody in this house smokes. The previous (and only other) owners were elderly and didn't smoke... so it's not "left over" smoke smell.

Am I having a stroke?

2. Maybe the neighbors?
If I am in my room sometimes I can smell the neighbors smoking in the backyard. I hate cigarette smoke.

11. Well... Every Window In The House Is Open
for the first time in MONTHS (now that we've finally got cool nights again) YAY!!

So that seems quite likely that it could be from outside. I would have thought that it would have become too "dilluted" for me to smell it though. Hmm... very odd.

12. 2.5 years smoke free!!!
A carton-a-week smoker no more!! Hidden desires coming to the surface? Memories of an old "friend"? --- Possibly.

19. Congratulations on your success
I hate you!

Not really, but after being "butt free" for nearly 11 months I screwed up and had "just one". Well that one led to another and...
yep... back at it on a regular basis for the past year.

I've got lots of excuses as to why I went back, but none of them hold any water for me anymore.

I admire your willpower.

6. Olfactory hallucinations?
I used to have those before I would get a migraine. What I used to smell was far worse than cigarette smoke though.

13. .....
It may depend on how long you have been there and how long the previous people were there. We get a very strong smell of smoke here sometimes, and the previous occupant smoked very heavily.

Mind you, our cat regularly gives us the creeps by staring intently over our shoulder when we are sitting down. Seemingly, at a level that would correspond to the eyes of a person standing behind us. So there may be other "things" in play....!

14. Cig smoke is sneaky and the nose is very, very sensitive.
Especially if you're a former smoker or allergic.

The closest smoker to my house is 6 houses down. I can smell when she lights up outside within a few minutes. We live in a 10 mile an hour neighborhood and I can usually smell when a smoker's car or truck goes by.

The human nose is a very good detector as it happens.

It's probably a neighbor, someone walking by or similar if your windows are open.

17. ex smoker. My brain is SO conditioned to smoke - and to want it - that
I do smell it everywhere.

My brain WANTS those dopamine mimics. Desperately.

It just can't have them.
