I'm home sick, bored, and blowing off my mission-statement meeting.
I guess my defense of my magazine's mission statement will need to wait until the fever breaks. (I don't know for a fact I have a fever, as I can't find the thermometer. But I feel like I do. And I'm achy.)

I made the right decision, fever or no fever.

1. Mission Statement fever! Catch it!
After what you described last week no jury will convict you.

Hope you feel better soon, eyesroll.

2. Thanks. I'd be wondering if it wasn't psychosomatic -- but I don't care
enough about the mission statement or the meeting to make myself sick over it.

Nah...I just caught a bug or something. (My immune system engaged in a paradigm shift and is not delivering its mission-critical, just-in-time objectives.)

4. HA! I hate it when my immune system achieves non-excellence...
...in its deliverables objectives. ;-)

3. Everyone's sick down here
Some awful cold going around. And I found out my daughter has asthma, which sucks. :(

Be happy you don't have to take any nasty medicine! Yet, anyway.

Hope you feel better soon.

6. I'm not sure this is a medicine thing...
I might take some Aleve or something, but otherwise, it just has to run its course.

Is it just my imagination, or is asthma just exploding recently? When I was in elementary school, there was one girl in my class who had it. Now, it seems your daughter has plenty of company. Best wishes that her inhaler doesn't taste too bad...

9. Oh yes, asthma rates have skyrocketed
But it's not because of pollution or anything, so don't go getting any cockamamie liberal ideas, now.

/sarcasm

I've just about lost all patience with republicans, and this, I think, will pretty much end my ability to be civil with them.

:grr:

Glad to hear you don't have to take nasty medicine... really you probably wouldn't anyway, since you can take pills. My kids still have to take liquid everything. I feel so bad for them.

Not the good, yummy, veiny mold...but the fuzzy ("when the hell did we buy this anyway?") stuff...

13. More like "let's rally around the bored eyesroll."
I think I'm done sleeping (at least for awhile), so it's this or "Divorce Court."

18. A rally nonetheless! But I think you need to invoke a little more...
sympathy from your audience. You need to give your audience a REASON to rally. Go for the gut.

Remember... it's all about pacing.

Have you forgotten everything from 1989 Drama Camp???

20. 1992, arts camp
I was in the "creative writing" track. I didn't learn how to write any better, but I took with me these tidbits:

1. One can make a bong out of just about anything.
2. Girls can hit on other girls and be totally serious.
3. Hair gel does indeed mimic ejaculate (vice versa was demonstrated a few years later in "There's Something About Mary")
4. Legos can't be removed from (thankfully not my) ears without medical intervention.

I lived a sheltered existance until art camp...

Who, me? O8)

Seriously -- assuming you're not feverish, attending a funeral or bailing raw sewage out of your basement, you by default are playing hooky for better reasons.

19. I'm sick too
However, I have to go in to work for a meeting in a short while. Damn meetings. These people are annoying too. My only hope is that I'll pass my feverish, achy germs onto them. :grr:

21. I cancelled two meetings.
It was the right decision. I've had a hard time sitting upright today (right now, I'm sprawled out on the couch with my laptop; when the batteries die I'll plug it back in and shower or something).

Here's a  to feel better (and I'll assume we have the same germs and thus don't make each other sicker).

22. Hmm...
Jason is sick as well. I think I'll need to interrogate you and flamingyouth a little further. :grr:

I'm home today as well. I have a 15% paycut through the end of the year. :-( Only good thing is that they also reduced our schedules so I get 1 1/2 days off per pay period.

Since I'm not sick, I'm going on a nice ride on the north side of the city and visiting the Chicago Botanical Garden.

Hope you all feel better soon.

:(

There is something going around here that I've succefully managed not to get so far - I pray my luck holds! Terrible things, those change-of-season colds.

I'm not sure it's a change-of-season thing...I do get allergies, but this isn't it...Whatever it is, I don't have to talk to my CEO about mission statements today, so there are small blessings at least...

28. so mission statements do make people ill
in more ways than one. I am waiting to see if my kid gets whatever is going around, since the illnesses they send home from school are particularly virulent. I hope not.

Hope you feel better. :)

No kids, so no kids' illnesses. (I did go to the Capitol Steps :eyes: on Friday, at a college, with a pregnant woman. Maybe those count...)

Well, I think you can just get exposed to illness anywhere there are people. But the illnesses kids bring home are the pits. I work at home a lot, so I am am less exposed than when I was in an office.
