"Big Tex"-52 foot Bush likeness being prepared for debates

Tim Thibodeaux is perched precariously atop' Big Tex' as he prepares the 52-foot-tall talking cowboy figure for the opening of the State Fair of Texas in Dallas, Monday, Sept. 20, 2004. Big Tex made his debut in 1952 and began greeting fairgoers in 1953. The 2004 State Fair of Texas runs from Friday, Sept. 24 through Sunday, Oct. 17. (AP Photo/Donna McWilliam)

3. Will it feature all of Bush's famous quotes?
..."Our enemies keep looking for weaknesses in the U.S. and so do we?" (paraphrased)

9. Here's Bush at his most eloquent...
"And so, in my State of the...my State of the Union...or state...my speech to the nation, whatever you want to call it, speech to the nation...I asked Americans to give 4,000 years...4,000 hours over the next...the rest of your life...of service to America. That's what I asked...4,000 hours." —Bridgeport, Conn., April 9, 2002

17. Hell, shrub haven't given 4,000 hours of work as president for....
...which we are paying him a salary of what is it, $400,000 per year or $1.6 million for his term in office. And he sure as hell didn't do squat during his Nat'l Guard Reserve duty as we are learning. So, we certainly don't need to hold our collective breaths for * to provide 4,000 additional hours of service (unpaid) to America. None alive today will ever see Dubya honor that.

4. Hey..Big Tex looks NOTHING like Shrub
Big Tex rocks. He even greets State Fair-goers in Spanish now too. :)

Several years ago the Dallas paper had a thing where people could write in with men they knew who were "Big Tex"es in their community. My daddy, who is 6'6" and the sweetest big you'll ever meet with a personality the size of Texas, got nominated by someone he works with. Had his pic in the paper and everything. It was pretty neat. :)

10. Yeah but you wouldn't be surprised if they tried that would you?
I can hear Brokaw now:"Well President Bush sure is a manly man huh Chris?"

Russert:"Wow it is amazing that anyone dare to cross him. He intimidates in his mere presence"

Mathews"Boy how would you like to have a beer with HIM?"

Texas DUers, I'm trying hard to not be insulting, but, really, how do you live in that state?

(And yeah, I love Molly Ivins and Willy Nelson, but nontheless, I'm putting on my flak jacket for Lone Star incoming artillary.)

But I should have figured that based on the "beautiful scenery" comment. :-)

13. The thread title is a joke...
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 03:18 PM by VelmaD
it is not a likeness of Shrub. It's a statue that has been at the State Fairgrounds since well before he was born. The statue looks NOTHING like Shrub. I know...I've seen it in person several times.

This is what Big Tex actually looks like:
