How do you pronounce TV?
With the emphasis on the T or the V? Is it Tv or tV?

My brother pronounces it the opposite way I do, and says the way I pronounce it makes me sound like a hick. But that's the very reason (sounding like a hick) I stopped pronouncing it the way we did when we were kids, and started pronouncing it the opposite way.

Also, for those who don't mind revealing their location, what state are your from? (Or, what state or general geographical location did you live in that helped establish your pronunciation of TV?)

3. TeeVEE
New York.

TEEvee makes it sound like it's a word (teevee), not an acronym -- at least to my ears.

5. /gaw-DAM/ /BAB-l/ /BOCKS/
*wink*

Okay, actually, I don't hear an emphasis on either syllable when I say it. If If stress one or the other, it sounds funny.

I literally have no accent, as it happens. My parents are Hoosiers (Indiana) of Northern English and Irish extraction ( i.e. lots of words have an /r/ sound that is not in the spelling) but we moved all over the planet while I was small and forming an ear. I pronounce some words with a London accent, others with a Hindi accent, and even others with a Canadian. Depends on where we lived when I learned the word.

8. TEE vee
And yes, I'm a Southerner (raised in Florida by Savannah-born parents), and have gotten comments on my pronunciation from Yankee friends from time to time. But my pronunciation of "nuclear" is always correct.

10. TEE vee. Or sometimes TEE VEE. Philadelphia (FLUFFya), PA
But I also say ahn-velope. I used to say kew-pon but I thought that sounded bad so I started saying koo-pon (for coupon). But I also say nyews, not noos, for news, and Tyuesday. So I don't know where I sound like I'm from.
