u2's new single premiering online Thursday night
09-21-2004) Dave Fanning to Play 'Vertigo' First - RTE*
FIRST EXCLUSIVE PLAY OF U2'S BRAND NEW SINGLE VERTIGO
(though i think this is UK time)

This Thursday evening on The Dave Fanning Show you can hear the first EXCLUSIVE play of U2's brand new single 'Vertigo', taken from their forthcoming album 'How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb'. This will be U2 fans' first chance to hear 'Vertigo' anywhere in the world.

In fact, the Dave Fanning show has had the exclusive on every new U2 single from the very beginning, since the day when listeners to Dave's show were asked to pick the A-side of U2's very first single.

'Vertigo' hits the shops on November 8 but you can hear it first and in full on Thursday's Dave Fanning Show so don't miss it!

DAVE FANNING
2FM

1. It will probably suck, I imagine.
I really wish they'd retire. It's all been crap since Zooropa.

2. gotta disagree with you on this one
while i prefer the early 90s stuff, i've found u2s work to always be consistant and strong. hell, even liked 'pop' (yes, i'm the one)

i've heard a bootleg of about 20 seconds of vertigo. the first thing i noticed was that it's heavier on the guitars than anything they've done since the zoo tv era.

kind of reminds me a bit of 'until the end of the world"

hopefully, the album holds up

5. I feel like they started pandering after Pop
I liked that album but it didn't sell so well. After that they've done run of the mill music for the masses. I heard people say they sold out with Pop, but they way I see it, they sold out on their next album that went back to their tired old sound.

6. i sort of agree with you
i didn't mind All That You Can't Leave Behind, but I can't argue with you thatthere was a conscous decision to win back their audience

It was just one cd and I have high hopes for the new album, though.

4. I only liked their first one, "boy".
it's all subjective, i suppose, but I never liked them after that.
