"Support Our troops"- Yellow ribbon
Has there been a sudden resurgence in the use of or display of the yellow ribbon as a sign of support or hope for our troops?

Been seeing a lot of them displayed on the back of cars lately.

It seems like they sprang up practically overnight.
Two weeks ago I think I saw one or two. Now I see them everywhere
(today, I saw at least 3 within 10 minutes).

The ones I've been seeing are about 6"-8" long.

(I know the significance goes back to the Iranian hostage crisis).

1. They are on many cars in my community
Maui, Hawaii.

I have one on my car - except I have a bumpersticker right next to it that says "Bring Our Troops Home"

2. There are a lot of them
in Austin. There's another one that says "Pray for Our Troops." I'd like to get one of those and put a big X over the 'our' and write 'all,' but I don't know where to buy them.

3. I think it's a Bush supporter thing, mostly.
Support the troops, vote for the guy who's killing them.

6. I'm not 100% certain if it's a Bush thing or not.
I live in the Boston area so it doesn't seem likely that the people who are displaying them are Repubs (especially given the number of them I've been seeing).

FWIW, I haven't noticed any other stickers that would give a clue as to the drivers political beliefs (not that there weren't any other stickers, I just didn't notice any).

5. Seeing a few here too
Saw one on a hummer a couple of days ago. Looked at the driver and just shook my head at him. They're oblivious.

I was thinking about putting a proportionally sized one next to my Kerry/Edwards sticker.

7. quite often...a nice enough sentiment I guess...
but in this context I think "supporting our troops" might just be tantamount to supporting their engagement

so I don't like it
