Here I am, a diehad Mac fan, and I STILL don't know which one to get yet!
In the past 3 days, I've went from "those new imac G5s look tight, going to get one for Christmas", to"I need to save money for my trip to Japan, so eMac", to"I don't want another hernia, hello iBook", back to iMac, then eMac, to now...

I can't decide anymore!!! :evilfrown:

I plan to use iChat AV alot, iPhoto as well, and iTunes, Safari, and iCal (i LOVE that app to death, it's been a real lifesaver numerous times). hats the easy part, iMac, eMac, and Book can handle that without blinking.

Now it gets hard!Superdrive?...it would come in handy to burn dvds, but I dont have a camcorder. I will get the iSight owever..

I have an Xbox, so gaming won't be vital, but still...I want to play Battlefront and UT2004...the iMac G5 has more than enough horsepower to handle those games...

Finally, I'd like to take it with me to Japan...but would YOU trust the airport security goons with a bew iMac G5? The apes lost my tothbrush, :wtf: would they do to my iMac G5? :argh:

Steve Jobs, if you're reading this, please help me out
In the meantime, I'll just buy a gold iPod mini for my birthday ext month. Orginal iPod is getting real long in the tooth!

6. I know I'll buy the imac..later!
I saw a post on the Apple discussions of some poor guy..he brought a new imac G5 in NY, it worked perfectly. Then he took it to the UK, plugged it in, and friedit instantly. I felt so bad for him, I had a moment of silence :evilfrown:

3. I too am a die hard Mac person.
I would treat it like a car purchase: Get the least ammount of Mac you can stand to use. That it, if a 14" iBook will do, then why get the Aluminum ?

No matter what, you won't regret it.

4. I'm very inclined to the 14 inch iBook
the $1499 model with the Airport Express card already installed...now a Powerbook, hmmmm...'ll see what a 15 inch Al book is in the Special Deals section of the Apple Store online. Those have 64MB video cards from Ati if I'm right...

I'll get my iPod mini and just keep saving--not for a new product, but rather that I'll have more than enough machine for my needs. Just ike you said, treat it like a car purchase!

7. Consider the eMac, rent a Powerbook
I was able to rent a Powerbook for a week for $49 for a trip to Florida. Unless you need portability, why not save some moolah and get the underrated eMac?

eMac = Nice big screen, Superdrive option, and if you shop around, you can get a refurb for about $620. Good processor, all you need, and you'll save enough to pay your airfare to Japan.

Give it some thought.

11. I LOVE my 12" Powerbook. I more than love it, I lurve it!
Never regretted getting a Powerbook. I went through a similar process, and, for me, the Powerbook was the right decision.

Tell me what you like about iCal. I'm still using Entourage.

13. update
I'm nowthiking that the 12 or 15 inch Powerbbok would work , especially as I take my algebra course in the next semester--and have a college id card for using the colege student discount :bounce: Nt just the better video card, but having built in Bluetooth and Wifi (Airport Extreme)...

I'll have to save up a bit more, but that's alright. I'll buy that ipod mini like I said earlier and be happy. I'd better go with the silver, it seems to match better with the Powerbooks than a gold one would

14. As far as the new iMacs go
I'd wait. It's such a radical design, you don't know if it has flaws.
Just look at the Cube, that had alot of problems with overheating.
