XP TECHIES...Got any good system tweaks?
I've used the standard tweak guides at tweaktown.com, and am looking to squeeze a little more juice out of my aging PC.

I know we have a lot of smart people here and was hoping you guys could post your favorite tips and tricks to boost general PC performance.

Any ideas?

7. It depends
If you can buy 3 cheap CPUs for the price of an expensive CPU, you can burn 3 out and still break even.

I haven't done it with a P4, but I had great sucess with a P2 and a P3 -- (no replacements)

5. first thing everyone should do in my opinion
right click my computer, properties, advanced, performance...

choose the "best performance" option, and click only two folders, the "drop shadows" and "font smoothing". Leave everything else blank. I did this and got an instant 20% boost in speed.
