Fear? Why?
I was reading the thread about someone spending a period on FR and ask them anything. The word "fear" pops up a few times.
I have seen this becoming a trend here at DU. Where is the fear coming from? Are you full of fear? What is there that is so scary that we should be fearing?
I'm not fearing life in the U.S. Sure it sucks sometimes, but it's not the end of the world. And even if it is the end of the world, why fear it? I think too many people have watched too many movies.

1. Well, one well-founded fear is...
...that the housing market will collapse.

Actually this is pretty much a certainty within the next decade, if not within the next two or three years. And a lot of people have placed some very large bets on their houses.

4. So, we all go in to more debt?
When the market collapses, are we all going to live in a refrigerator carton on the streets?

3. Fear, isn't that what republicans do.
But to be honest, I feel safe, I have beer, and I have Ramen. This shit does not make me scared. I will forge forward and make my girlfriends life unbearable in a way I only can.

5. To be honest johnnie
My fear is that Dumbya and his cabal of criminals will somehow manipulate themselves back for another 4 years.

They've used their version of the Reichstad fire to justify doing things that normally would have resulted in Impeachment, and imprisonment for any other President in our history.

Now, the media cowers in fear of the misAdministration, afraid they'll unleash their right wing nut attack dogs on them for even daring to question the Furher.

My fear is that, minus the urgent desire to be "re-elected" that these criminal scum will start doing things even more draconian.

8. But they have been doing it for a while
The media has been cowering for quite a while, the Clinton years showed us that.
We lived through 8 years of the Reagan/Bush administration (which is basically the same one we have today),and we made it through.
Even when Kerry wins this November we will still have these people around and they will still pull the same crap they always have. When the current administration are all dead and buried, more whack jobs will be there to take their places.
I agree that what we have in office right now can be scary, but I think that fear is too strong of an emotion to be feeling. I would say that frustration and "being pissed off" is more of the emotions we should be feeling. Fear seems to be an emotion that we should feel when we are beaten, not fighting.

7. I'm scared of freeper attitudes
Just like their hero, nothing is their responsibility or their fault, it's all the "dead enders" keeping them from the outcome they deserve. And when things get even harder, they're gonna decide they need to take matters into their own hands, and come out swinging. Or shooting. Just like Weimar Germany.

Read Orcinus and you'll see what I'm scared of: http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/
