Americans eating more cheese than ever _ 30 pounds a year

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Americans are eating more cheese than ever - more than 30 pounds a person per year - and their appetite for more variety is growing, a national survey says.

In 2003, Americans ate a record 8.8 billion pounds of cheese. That's 2 1/2 pounds a month for every man, woman and child, according to a survey released Tuesday by the California Milk Advisory Board.

Most of the demand is being fed by domestic suppliers, and California's mega-dairies are growing so fast that analysts expect the state to overtake Wisconsin in cheese production within two years.

California is already the nation's leading milk producer, and with the help of cheese makers like Hilmar Cheese Company - the largest in North America - the state has doubled its cheese production in the last decade.

1. As we know in Wisconsin.....

there is a critical balance between cheese and beer!

And yes, it's sad but true, California's mega dairies will probably overtake Wisconsin in cheese production...but it won't taste the same.........

thanks to the cancerous FATKINS ATKINS, people are heavier and at a greater risk of heart attacks, tumors and other gems.

I feel sorry for the slobs who can't see the absurdity of being forced to eat all kinds of fatty garbage, but not one single apple.

6. Not true
The French eat about 26 kg of cheese a year, the Italians about 21 kg, and both people have far less problems with obesity and heart diseases.

7. first
their cheese is not filled with cancerous preservatives that we Americans are blessed with in our cheeses, and they also drink plenty of wine, instead of the beer and the sweet colas.

14. Yes, Yes, Yes - The Beer And Wine Nullifies The Artery Clogging
effects of cheese.

The cheese and fundie lobby is stronger than the wine lobby in this country.

Besides, the baptists could never allow the country to imbibe - GOD told them so.

4. Everything is better with cheese, except pancakes.
I knew this guy once who ate pancakes with American cheese and syrup.

I love cheese, but not that much.

9. Yeah but that's not all
If goat cheese is too tame for your oh-so-refined palates, there's:

* Cat cheese from Tennessee (Frist)

* Dog cheese from Pennsylvania (Santorum)

* Skunk cheese from Illinois (Hastert -- or write your own joke here)
