"Welcome to the Dollhouse"
Edited on Mon Sep-20-04 02:16 AM by VolcanoJen
Just finished watching this movie on cable, which I hadn't seen since it first came out.

God, is there anything more painful than junior high, and especially watching poor Dawn "Weiner Dog", in her hot pink oversized pants and awful sundresses, suffer through it?

I love Todd Solondz movies... they're so much more brutal than the average crap at the cineplex. "Welcome to the Dollhouse" makes Molly Ringwald (circa "Pretty in Pink") look like the most popular girl in school, and there's no predictable "Ducky" to save Dawn's pride in "Welcome to the Dollhouse."

I really need to watch "Happiness" again... that one's truly sick, which is probably why I enjoyed it so much. :-)

1. hehe
"Today, 3 o'clock. I rape you. Be there"
That movie scared the hell out of me. I watched it before I went into junior high (I know, what's a 6th grader doing watching this). It changed my life, hehe.

3. Dawn: "Why do you hate me?"
Classmate: "Because you're ugly."

That would never, ever, ever, ever appear as a line in a mainstream teen-flick, mostly because it's hurtful, and mostly because that's the kind of thing kids really do say to each other.

2. I have seen both movies.
I barely remember them though, (the Happiness one I puffed a bit too much prior to and the other one I watched when it first came out and it's been awhile) but I DO remember they were right up my alley for being wacked out! I might have to re-watch both myself.

4. Gods, I haven't seen this movie in a long time
But I really loved it. I also loved the neighbor guys' band, who did the song "Welcome to the Dollhouse." I always loved the musician boys when I was younger.

(Shout out to our many fans, Jen!!)

5. LMAO!
Something about daisys and chains, right? }(

I always had a thing for the rocker boys too. Got me in plenty of trouble, broken hearts and all...

6. I couldn't resist!
You know we're doing this for the fans.

I've been laughing all day, but at times I've felt a little sick about it! :D

I could write a three-volume book on broken hearts! :eyes: We should compare notes some time!
