13. Why did Ernest Hemingway cross the road?
A: "To die. In the rain."
(But anyway, big Croce fan here. And Jim would enjoy the joke.)

14. there's a dvd out with his music and interviews.... highly recommend!
I almost went into journalism when, as a junior high student I won a photojournalism contest with a slide presentation pairing scenes from Vietham atrocities, including Mai Lai and the infamous "napalming photos" with Croce's "Time in a Bottle." He really touched me and his folky/bluesy style on many of his songs was just wonderful.

Along with Harry Chapin, we lost two wonderful storytellers in that decade.

18. It Was A Tragic Accident. There Was No "Reason" Or "Purpose"...
It's a fact that everyone dies. In trying to accept or cope with the loss of a loved one, many humans try to mystify death by pretending or visualizing a "greater good" or "higher purpose" that THEIR loved one was "chosen" to die.

-- Allen

Jim Croce lived his life to the fullest until the day he died. Isn't that sad that so many folks waste their ONE life here, not living it to the fullest, in anticipation of something else that will never come.

19. I don't know, but I think of him every time
I play my guitar. He's one of the reasons I picked up a guitar in the first place.

Martin makes a Croce tribute guitar. It has a mint 1973 dime implanted at the third (?) fret ("you can keep the dime"). I lust after that guitar, but I'd rather have Jim alive.
