Kicked some butt in Cross-Country Today
We had a huge Meet at the Western Oregon University Campus, the New Balance Invitational (Yes, the shoe company.) It poured all day long and we were freezing and soaked by the time our race started (I was the very last race of the day because I'm Boys Varsity and they have to go through Girls College, Boys College, Girls Freshmen, Boys Freshmen, Girls JV, Boys JV, Girls Varsity and then us!)

I went out on my first mile and due to the huge number of runners (around a hundred) I had a crappy first mile, trying to find my groove and get in place, had a 6:17 first mile (very bad for me) second mile I finally got into a rythm and busted out a surge, making a 5:59 mile (much better!) Ended up finishing the 5k in 19:11, a 13 second Personal Record and 4th best on my team!

:bounce:

I realize this probabally doesnt mean anything to most of you but I am pumped up and just feel like bragging, lol.

2. I kicked butt in cross country once...
It got me suspended though since I was on the wrestling team.

There was going to be a joke in there somewhere, but it fell flat.

Congrats on your time though. I never could manage anything less than a 7 minute mile.

3. I know X-Country. Sons in HS have run.
Congratulations!!
Today was a gorgeous day in Michigan and my son's team took first place for their District at an Invitational. As Captain he came in fourth in the 5K w/18:36. The top runner came in at 16:04. Not quite a hundred runners though!

Good job!

18:36 is a very respectable time. I hope that I can get under 18 by the end of this year and even though its a big goal, I think I can (I trained hard all summer and am feeling really good) We took 3rd in the Invitational and are thrilled (we were supposed to get like 10th, it was a bigtime upset) our top runner ran his PR of 16:10 and we all got PR's and were running in top shape. Looks like we may make another run at the District Title (That would make it 5 years in a row!!!!)

4. Way to improve on your time
Way to catch up after your first mile. The good thing about cross country is that you can always feel victory in continuously improving.
I know all about that. I used to kick butt in cross country too.

My best time for the 5K was only like 20-somethin'(good enough for varsity for 2 of the 3 years of HS), so brag away!

Damn, I miss those CC days!
