Poll question: Favorite Elf of Rivendell.
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 11:22 PM by Ladyhawk
This was supposed to be a copy-cat thread, but "Favorite resident of Riverdale" is nowhere in sight.

12. Um, I thought that's who you meant.
In the movies, Arwen usurped Glorfindel's role and took the wounded Frodo (he's a hobbit, not a midget) to Rivendell on horseback, chased by the Ringwraiths.

It's Legolas, right? Rides around with the dwarf Gimli?

But as I just found out, he's not from Rivendell no way. :)

Um, unless you are talking about a girl.

16. E'owyn
And she's not an Elf, but the niece of The'oden king of Rohan.

I'm the biggest fucking loser of all, because I also know about Turin Turambar and Gondolyn and the Dragon-Helm of Hador.....

24. No
I know how to spell Gondolin.

That makes me a bigger loser.

And I picked Glorfindel. Anybody who killed a Balrog in combat, and then was reincarnated, kicks ass.

4. She's not from Rivendell. She's from Lothlorien.
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 11:17 PM by Ladyhawk
That makes me a double loser, I guess. One, for knowing "who these people are" and two, for knowing who's from what area of Middle Earth.

20. LOL, I was wondering why you left him out!
And I should have known you did it for a reason!!

But in the movie you know, he IS from Rivendell, or they never make that distinction. At least Galadriel lives in a different place....

28. Nope. He was sent by his father Thranduil to Rivendell...
...to Elrond's Council. :) He arrived in Rivendell, just like the dwarves and Boromir of Gondor.

31. Uh....was that the first time when Orlando appeared onscreen?
When they did the "Thranduil has sent his son Legolas here" bit?
Because I was a bit distracted at that time. ;)

Wow, you really know your stuff! I will no longer talk out of my butt about elves.

:)

13. The elves that the hobbits hear...
singing in the trees when they descend into the valley & feel a light breeze blowing(in The Hobbit if I remember correctly). They are tired after the encounter with the trolls.

SNICKER! I love this poll. I love Elrond the best. He's supremely doable. Frankly, he could use a tumble. The old lady dumped him don't you know.

27. Actually
The old lady died after being tormented by orcs. Most likely a euphemism for rape, I think.

Elrond had a hell of a life, if you think about it. Lost his parents, was then raised by the people who killed his parents, who subsequently died, his wife was raped by orcs and died, and his daughter is going to marry a mortal and die. All this for an immortal had to be hard to deal with.

34. Celebrían did not die.
That's the name of Elrond's wife. She sailed into the west after being tormented by the Orcs. Tolkien, of course, never used the word "rape"--but he wouldn't.

35. Oops
For some reason, I thought she had died.

Her sailing into the West was close enough, though. She just couldn't handle Middle Earth anymore after the 'torment'.
