Just out of curiosity...
How many of you here are of Scandinavian decent? I'm Norwegian on my mother's side. Ringstad is the surname. We have traced the family tree back to the 600's AD or BCE.
Thanks.

Peace

1. i am english, irish, scots, but gramma was from Lofoten
i traced part back to the 1600s on her dad's side (Riise) and though the distaff side to 900s or so (Benkestok) I visited a church in Bergen where a Benkestok wedding took place in the 1100s or 1200s I can't remember which.

in Manchester, i visited a pub my dad's relatives drank in in the 1840s-1880s

i think though if all this was traced back, I'd find out I'm almost 100% Norwegian :)
:toast: Skoal!

The Fisks came from Norway and settled in England before the Domesday Book was written. But that's quite a ways back.

8. The Domesday Book
"The Domesday Book was commissioned in December 1085 by William the Conqueror, who invaded England in 1066. The first draft was completed in August 1086 and contained records for 13,418 settlements in the English counties south of the rivers Ribble and Tees (the border with Scotland at the time)."

18. The Answer to that is: Probably almost anyone of European ancestry.
Go back to the ninth and tenth centuries, and my ancestors include the Viking conquerers of Normandy and Kiev, and the medieval rulers of Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Given the mathematical probabilities involved, I'm sure the same is true for most of European descent, who are probably all related in the degree of being no more than 30th or 40th cousins at most...
