My daughter's best friend lives in Gulf Breeze. She's safe, but it looks as though her house may not have fared so well, if the pictures are any indication.

2. barrier island and slivers of land - after looking at a map

of that area and realizing much of this destruction is on those thin barrier islands - it is not surprizing

all those homes built on those little narrow slivers of land are an accident waiting to happen - and it finally did - and they will be back there tomorrow building again - too bad we can make those lands off limits and natural preserves -

cost us less to fix up after a storm
I do realize some of the other areas hit hard were on more solid ground
