RIP Ryno
My sweet little Ryno Angel Girl died this afternoon after a short but valiant fight against kidney failure. She was 14 and my soulmate.

I will miss her sweet face and her deep, loud purr.

1. My condolences
But you had me scared for a minute there that something had happened to Ryne Sandberg.

6. She was named for him.. obviously.
When Harry Carray would go on about Ryno this and Ryno that, her little ears would perk up.

11. It sucks big time!
I'm wondering which of my other cats will emerge as "top cat." I now have 3 males and only 1 female. My money is on Lucy. Sam doesn't care, Wrigley is too high strung, and Ricky is afraid of Lucy because she won't take any crap off of him.

9. Thanks ZW....
I tried to be a good kitty-mom. The vet said she might start having seizures and that it really was time. I knew that was true but I had a hard time accepting it. Thankfully my Dad went with me. I couldn't have faced that alone.

19. You're so sweet!
Yeah, it's been a rough few days here. I knew it was coming when she didn't respond to the steroid shot on Tuesday. It's over now. She was such a wise and wonderful kitty. I'm gonna miss that sweet little face in my face every morning.

5. What a beautiful cat - a tortoise, right? I have a
tortise also and she's 16 but in very poor health. I'm sorry about your Ryno Angel, but what a great 14 years. Time to rest after chasing all those mice.

10. So beautiful!
I think she was a tortie, or diluted tortie. Something about how much white they have. 16 years! Love her all you can...

I can't help but wonder if there's some root cause

20. Good question...
I don't know. I lost another to kidney failure about 7 years ago and my sister's Steve died of it.

I wonder if it's related to cats' carnivorous nature? I know when people are having kidney problems they're supposed to cut back on protein.

i am so sorry. maybe my Sammy and Mr Big met her when she got to where ever they go when they are done here. i feel deeply for your loss. they never stay with us long enough, physically. but she will be in your heart forever. and you will be better for having had the chance to be her mom for 14 short years.

sorry

you had a Sammy too? Mine is 9 years old. You're right, she'll be in my heart forever. Calicos and torties: no two alike. She was the most unique of cats.

25. Sorry about your loss, too.
My little Ricky just came up and nudged me and gave me a sweet little "I love you mom" look. He knows. Funny thing, I really don't want to be around my other cats right now. I want my baby!

24. I'm sorry
Sounds like you had a good life together, though, for 14 years.

Just yesterday, my mother sent me a photograph of my favorite cat of the Eighties -- a tortie like Ryno, but with a darker head. It got me in touch again with the truth that a nice cat is unforgettable. I know you'll always remember the good times.

Ryno was one of the great cats. Aren't torties and calicos cool?

It's heartbreaking to lose a pet and I'm sorry you lost a soulmate. But you had 14 lovely years together!

My cat Felix is 14 and is my soulmate, he had a brush with death 3 years ago (FUS) and I was nearly heartbroken but he miraculously pulled through...I know he's nearing the twilight of his years so it's good to prepare for the inevitable, I suppose...Still it is so hard!

My condolences...such a pretty kitty she was!
