Poll question: Which ACTOR would make a great real-life PRESIDENT?
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 12:42 AM by UdoKier
Not just playing one - actually being one, a la Reagan.

McDonnell

Freeman

Harris

Sheen

Woodard

Davis

Reiner (okay, so he's more of a director now)

Viggo

Babs

1. Morgan Freeman's already been God.
Wouldn't President be kind of a letdown after that?

5. But...
There is something soooo confidence-inspiring about the guy.

He was the Prez in Deep Impact, too.

35. Morgan Freeman was a TERRIBLE president
He lied to us about that comet or adenoid thing about to hit us. He lost the whole east coast to the floods and tidal waves. He was nowhere near as cute as Tea Leone. I'm sure he was playing a Republican president and the sequel to that movie would be about how it takes a Democrat two terms just to clean up the mess.

2. I say Ed Harris
When a Freep was done interrupting his speech, he'd take him out back and kick his ass.

Also, The Right Stuff is one of my all time favorite movies.

6. Beatty, maybe...
I don't think Baldwin has the temperament. Too temperamental, would always be at an impasse with the congress, constantly alienating various constituencies. I agree with his politics, but his personality is not diplomatic enough.

40. Baldwin's already got the idiot brother though.
Billy Carter. Roger Clinton. Stephen Baldwin. Yeah, that would fit.

9. I'd vote for Newman...
But I'd have to pass on Hanks. He likes nothing better than the sound of his own voice. Besides, is he even a democrat?

Newman, however has been a great dem supporter, as has Robert Redford...

...but his "everyman" schtick has worn thin on me.

But you are right in that America still loves the guy -he couldn't possibly be worse than Bush!

13. Yes, he is.
But his real-life persona strikes me as rather introverted and artistic. I wonder if he'd be suited to the job?

34. We'd benefit tremendously from his artistic awareness.
And while he certainly seems to enjoy privacy; years of acting experience have surely taught him how to handle being in the public eye.

More than being an artist, Nimoy seems keenly aware of the problems facing the world today, from diplomatic relations to the economy to the environment. The films that he's worked on, written, and directed all display his unique ability to use an entertaining experience to provoke thought.

I think he'd be a terrific leader, excelling particularly in matters concerning education, the environment, and scientific research.

Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 02:33 AM by UdoKier
Or both Grant and Peck?

Anyway, I TOTALLY agree about Peck. By far the classiest, most decent and humble actor, and strong liberal of the century. I felt like he embodied every decent thing I saw in my own father.

27. I agree with "None".
Didn't we learn anything from the last "B" Grade asshole America put in the White House? Popularity and name recognition are just not enough to guarantee a good four years.

Now, having said that, I will appear to contradict myself and go along with the theme of the thread and vote for Redford. I think he would be guided by his conscience and not bow to various influential factions just because they are people he ought to keep happy.
