This is my 100th post! Ask me anything!
I see the milestones of DUers getting to, like, post number umpteen kajillion. I still feel like a virgin at a pornstar convention.

Uh, not that DUers with a lot of posts are pornstars, or have sex for money, or big plastic boobs or big...um, nevermind...just that I'm very new, and they are very experienced...er, and that I still have tons to learn and do...

3. Surely a ship from the mid-1800's would have props with 2 blades...
It wasn't until recently that the Mach 3 from Gillette came out with 3 blades, right?

Obviously, I really have no idea. Without Google, I wouldn't even have known when they were built.

4. There were 23 of them
The last was completed in March of 1862.
I think the larger ships such as the Kearsage had 4 bladed screws.
We know the Monitor has a 4 bladed screw as well.

I am thinking 2 bladed for a steam screw schooner of its size.

Building a model of it in 1 18th scale.... there are always lots of questions.

I think Confederates were importing the Mach 3 from England via the blockade runners.
