I read the obituaries in the paper. Lately, I have noticed there have been a number of prominent WWII veterans who have passed away. It is interesting to read that many, if not all, of them interrupted their collegiate studies to go to war. After the war, they returned to finish and go on to continue their lives. These long obituaries are of very wealthy connected folks. I think one of them was a Rockefeller who passed away last month. These were men who could have "gotten out" of service but DID NOT. THey fought for their country because they had priviledge and it was their duty. When did this all change? Korea? Vietnam?
I guess my point is that today, in this country of so much, those with the most lives their lives while those with the least fight and die in war. Those on the right, that shout "support our troops" and believe in this "war on terror" are not enlisting to fight. They really could just care less. JUST LIKE GEORGE W. BUSH, et al.
