6. T1 at work,
Airport via cable modem at home. It's way faster at home, too -- 300-post threads can load in a few seconds; here (even though I have a fast computer), anything over 75 or so I don't even bother clicking unless I have to (like it's my "ask me anything" thread or something).

7. DSL
And I'll never go back. I had broadband cable for 3 years, and I remember what a monumental pain in the ass it was to install every time I moved. The DSL was quick and painless.

8. You had trouble with broadband cable?
Unscrew incoming cable from back of cable box.
Install splitter, and connect one end of the splitter splitter back to the cable box with some coax. Route the other end of the splitter to the cable modem with more coax.

Then, connect a Cat 5 cable from the cable modem either to your computer's port or to a router (and then connect the router to various computers, either with more Cat 5 cable or wirelessly).

I installed this whole thing on two computers in 15 minutes, including software installation and router configuration, if you exclude my trip to the store for the router itself.

9. It wasn't the install, so to speak.
It was the service- absolutely horrible. When I initially installed, there was no signal going to the modem; someone forgot to hit the switch.

11. Dial up
I've looked into DSL, but have decided to wait until after the election before spending more money.

I've heard tin cans and string work.

12. I was on DSL briefly; I didn't really like it
but then, I was using Bellsouth. Same fine customer service we've grown to loathe dealing with them as the phone company. Hopefully, your experience will be better.

14. All right-thinking people hate BellSouth
My sweetheart switched to them before I could warn her off. Now she only gets my emails if I use her Yahoo account. Glad you like Earthlink DSL; unfortunately, their dialup stinks, so I'm hardly going to reward them by upgrading. Next stop: probably Netzero.

15. At the moment, 45Mbit DS3
It's faaaaast, and we rarely utilize any substantial portion of it.

When I go home at the end of the day, I have a 1Mbit DSL line.
