1. No. Hell no.
Pretty much any ability that involves my ears -- singing, hearing, balance -- is sub-par. Singing's the worst of the lot.

4. Not to toot my own horn but...
I am one damn good singer.

I suppose its useful considering i'm an actor and it's easier to get parts for musicals that way. So I guess I sorta have to be :P

Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 11:38 AM by Cheswick
for awhile. Then being a single mother got in the way when I got divorced.

That is why I asked what roles you had done. I was interested to see what type you are and if we had done any of the same shows.

11. One vote for 'decent,' here.
I'm a good 'part singer,' grew up singing next to my tenor/alto mother in church. My high school choir director loved me, but I don't have what it takes to be a soloist -- voice is strong, but pretty undistinguished by itself.

36. You sound like me.
I am a tenor/contralto - with a good warm-up I can sing mezzo. I'm a good choral voice but as soon as I have to do solo work... the voice I can bounce off the back wall of a good sized theatre as an actor - goes about 6 inches from my mouth and dies. Doesn't do that in voice lesson. Sigh, guess I'll never sing Carmen.

21. voted for decent.
Not really good enough for the public, but ...ok.
I remember a time, when my son was about 16 months or so. At that time he reclaimed a new song every second evening, or he would not sleep. I recalled every little part of any song I ever heard. Maybe even songs I did not hear...

:D

Were they playing with their coffee cups and pencils too? Poor Bear! That was a horrible thing to say. Auditions are hell. What aria did you sing? My dream is someday to sing "Che Faro Senza Eurydice" for an audition and just blow them away.

34. I can't sing at all, and I wish I could.
You know when you have a song in your head and can't remember the name, then you try to hum it to someone (who you know would know it) to find out what it is, but it's so bad that it's totally unrecognizable? That's me. I love music and used to write about it, so I've had a lot of friends who're musicians and really good singers. I would have loved to have fronted a rock band if I could sing.

Bums me out that I can't sing; I felt like everybody else in the world can sing except me. (I don't mean everyone could be up on stage, but I get the impression most people can at least carry a tune, which I can't.)
