1. The Met!
Absolutely the coolest museum I have ever been to. But, with only 2 days, you won't be able to do it all.

as for food, i'LL eat aLmost anything. i pLan on hitting one of those tiny, hoLe-in-the-waLL, middLe eastern take out for some faLafeL (speLLed horribLy wrong) and schwarma.

9. Just Walk Around Some Neighborhoods
They're all different and all worth looking at. The Village, SoHo, Lower East Side, Chinatown, Little Italy, Mid-Town, Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Harlem, and all the in-between places. Make your own discoveries. You can do this for days and never have it be repetitive.

10. Go to Chibi's Bar.
It would help if I could remember exactly where it was, I suppose. Lower East Side, anyway. But if you go there you'll meet Chibi himself, and maybe he'll model one or two of his little coats for you.

14. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a MUST SEE ....
I also took in the Empire State Building, Central Park, the Chelsea District, Union Square and the NYU district, Rockefeller Square, Madison Avenue, Times Square, Ground Zero and the Brooklyn Bridge, Coney Island ...

I was going to try to go to the Bobby Flay and Mario Batali restaurants, but I didnt find them in time ....

I did love Ray's Pizza in Cooper Square too ... damned great pizza ....

We had 3 kids with us, we didnt do much 'partying' ...

Have fun ... New York is amazing .... Even just walking around is amazing .... the city has a pulse you can almost taste ....

16. 2 days??? hahaha
I say go to Central Park (start from Columbus Circle) during the day, you can see the Met or the Museum of Natural History while you're there, then walk south on 7th Ave through Time Square and end in the village at night (maybe walk til you hit Bleecker and then make a left, going East). Talk to people on the street, something interesting always happens.

17. A few ideas
Webster Hall, still pretty much the biggest club in Manhattan
http://www.webster-hall.com/

or for just music (blues, rock and cover bands, great sound system), B.B. King's
http://www.bbkingblues.com/

If you are coming during the weekend of October 9th be sure to join us at Strawberry Fields for the annual John Lennon birthday party -- live impromptu band and sing along all day until they kick us out at midnight or so.

38. You simply MUST ride the "L" train at least once
It just seems fitting. :-)

I'd suggest a few hours walking and eating your way through chinatown, then over to Ground Zero, then take the Staten Island Ferry across to Staten Island and back (don't stay in Staten Island, though) then a quick subway ride up so you can wander and eat and shop your way through the Village and Chelsea and SOHO. They're all near each other, and it makes for a nice day.

And if you like fountain pens, Fountain Pen Hospital is near Ground Zero. Best pen store in the city.
