I don't get why people love it SO much. It wasn't bad at all, don't get me wrong, but it seemed to just....end rather abruptly and it never sucked me in. And I'm a real sucker for a good romance.

There were some funny bits, but all in all, I don't get what the big deal is.

Is Three Coins in the Fountain better? Gonna find out this weekend.

1. Roman holiday didn't do anything for me either
Mrs. McLargehuge loves it. I think it's too light and waaay too safe.

Give me His Girl Friday, it's a romance AND it's wicked funny

3. Ok see thank you
that's exactly how I felt. Too light and too safe. Just kinda void.

Though I did enjoy looking at a young hunky Gregory Peck. Rowwwwrrrrr.

And I love Audrey Hepburn. But....

2. Now, I MUST see it.
I've heard the hype too and have resisted way too long.
I also didn't get "The Sound of Music".

4. Oh God the Sound of Music
my mother used to watch that and Dr. Zhivago OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER when I was a kid (oh and Fiddler on the Roof).

Drove me batshit.

8. To "get" Zhivago, you have to love
David Lean movies. I still have to watch Lawrence of Arabia, Dr. Zhivago, Bridge over the River Kwai and Ryan's Daughter at least once a year. In fact, when we got our DVD player, the first movie I bought on DVD was Lawrence. But then I adore Peter O'Toole.

7. My Mom Walked Out On "Sound Of Music" on B'Way
One reason I love my mom. Singing Nazis? Well, in "the Producers," yes, but not as heartwarming barf-fest.

9. AAAAAUUUUUUURRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH!
I love Roman Holiday. One of the all time great endings in the history of film, IMHO. And Audrey Hepburn, :loveya:.

This is the first strike against you, Moonbeam. You only get two more.

10. I liked it because it challenged my modern american ideas about
what it means to be a romantic comedy. The movie is very cute and bubbly and silly. there's the nice guy who takes home the drunk girl and puts her to sleep on the couch. The princess who wants to see life like a commoner. The subterfuge. Chaos ensues etc. The first time I watched it I kept expecting them to somehow live happily ever after.this was the first movie that ever made me cry. The ending was inevitable, but somehow you hoped love would conquer all.

plus Rome is spectacular, and the movie really captures the feel of the city
