OUCH! A friend of mine lost his thumb the other day...
It was crushed in an industrial accident, and he lost a significant portion of it, requiring surgery. He won't know exactly how much is left until the 23rd, when his bandages come off.

Blue-collar DUers...be careful out there!

1. You are not kidding
Sorry about your friend's thumb. People can get depressed after losing even part of a finger. It's an emotional biggie for some.

Occupational exposures is also a concern I have. So many people who worked with chemicals in their jobs don't get to enjoy much of their retirement. Occupational illnesses that are never acknowledged turn that time into weakened health and all that entails.

Bush and his minions are doing everything they can to break the back of OSHA and its rules.

2. OUCH! I too lost parts of my hand in an industrial accident.
Ten years ago my left pinky and parts of my ring and middle finger were taken off in a crushing machine accident. I was helping a co-worker bend steel plates on a press brake. My co-worker was riding the meth wave and cycled the machine as I was removing a bent part.
So I know what he's feeling.
I wish him the best and hope that the phantom pains dint ail him in years to come.

5. I knew a biker who lost a thumb in an accident
and when he found out it would cost 1000 dollars to reattach his thumb, he said, "Nah, leave it off, it ain't worth it."
Bikers. :-)
