2. I had it once.
I can't remember what brand it was, but yes, it was way too sweet for my liking. And it burned going down.

4. Not particularly wonderful

I can see why the switch to beer and wine was made. Smelled a bit yeasty.

Got mine at the museum shop of a museum in Germany that was displaying an exhibit on the Allemanen

5. I've made it
And you have to age it at lest a couple years. It loses the sweetness.

6. I had some at Ren Faire once...
It would probably be way too sweet for me now, but it went down like candy then (I ended up pretty tipsy off of a relatively small amount).

10. I cannot remember the brand but I've had a good honey mead
and will try to find it.

Don't mind me though, I like anything with alcohol in it.

12. I've only had homemade mead
Most of it is rather light-tasting, ranging from dry to moderately sweet. But at a recent meeting of our homebrewing club, a bottle was passed around that had been seriously aged--something like ten years. It was amazing; it had darkened in color and developed raisiny and plum-like flavors, comparable to a tawny port.

If there's anything commercial out there that's like that, I'd sure like to know about it. I probably lack the patience to try making it myself, though. Beer and instant gratification seem to be more my speed.
