Who here works in Politics? Anonymity can be preserved
Hey with all the opinions, strategies, and talk that goes on here at DU - I was wondering if a lot of people actually work for lobbyists, campaigns, Hill or district/state offices, Political party offices, think tanks, grass roots campaign efforts, etc etc... Im particularly interested if there are people who work for pollsters, campaign strategists stuff like that...
No need to post where or who you work for - just say "I work on the Hill for a committee/Rep/Senator" or I work for a lobbying firm in a state capitol or DC... something vague to preserve the anonymity that the board provides and that many of us feel more secure expressing our views without having to reveal who/what we work for.

I myself ahve dabbled in campaigning and hill work.

2. Is all the press stuff handled out of the district?
I guess it makes sense to do that - since local media is really the most important/only media that you deal with...

5. yes
It is out of the district. This is where it happens for us---I think having your press person on The Hill is a real disconnect to the constituents. We have done really well here, press-wise:)

3. I'm a recovering Political Flack
US. Senate Campaign/Press Secreteary - 1986
Deputy P.S/Speechwriter-U.S. Sen. - 1987-1989
Lt. Gov. Campaign P.S. (Virginia) - 1989
House Member's Office (MI, MN) - 1990-1993.

I kept out of the game pretty much for about 6-7 years (burnout) but have gotten back involved in the local party (district chair, legislative candidate) since then.
