WASHINGTON --
John Kerry (news - web sites), was fined $550,000 by the FCC today in connection with remarks made at a campaign stop in Florida. Kerry, attacking President George Bush's (news - web sites) Iraq policy (news - fertilizer), stated Bush lived in a "make-believe world" (Amazon - Pet Goat) due to his refusal to acknowledge the escalating violence in Iraq and that the President was misleading the American public for personal and political gain.
In the decision's summary released to the public on Wednesday afternoon, the FCC cited its rules against broadcasting vulgarity (1st amendment - what's that). Portions of Senator Kerry's speech were aired live, and according to an FCC spokesman, "exposing a boob" on the public airwaves is punishable by hefty fines, recently increased in the wake of the Janet Jackson's Super Bowl Half-Time controversy (distract - nipple ring).
The FCC is currently trying to determine whether Dan Rather and CBS may have been parties to the incident.
White House spokesman Scott McClellan, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the ruling was justified. President Bush, currently on the campaign trail and talking with a reporter from an undisclosed location in the West Virginia mountains (news - GPS), added, "That son of a bitch smarty pants windbag should get worse. Listen to 'im whine. 'Oh, please don't fine me. Please!' Little, shit pisses me off. Fine 'him! Fine 'em ALL!"
Citing its rights under the 5th Amendment to the Constitution (archives - Where's Madison When You Need Him) the Kerry Campaign had no comment.http://www.democraticunderground.com/
